Sometimes a PDF document will have errors or passwords on it. This means our system cannot process it and add it into a package. While we try to prevent this from happening by scanning all documents when they are uploaded, sometimes they get through. Even though a document can be viewed in Adobe or another PDF viewer, that does not mean it doesn't have errors that would cause problems when merging it with other documents.

You can clean any PDF for upload to our system by following these steps:

1) Open the PDF document to view it. Press File>Print. This will open the print dialogue box.
2) Change the printer in the drop-down selection to “Adobe PDF”
3) Click the “Advanced” button at the bottom of the print dialogue.
4) Make sure “Print to Image” is checked. Press okay to save this option.
5) Press okay on the main print dialogue window to “Print” your file. It will ask you for a new file name and location for the “clean” PDF it is going to make for you.

This process asks Adobe to rebuild the PDF by flattening it and removing any forms and errors that may be on the page. You should be able to upload this new file without any problems. If you still have problems uploading definitely let us know as it may be in the 1% of files that need some extra work to get them in the system.
